#NIKOKADI: LET US FINISH WELL

Press Release

I commend the 1,370,930 Kenyans who have stepped forward to register as voters since the IEBC launched the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration exercise on 30 March 2026.

This is democracy in action, and it deserves acknowledgment.

To the young Kenyans who have driven the #NikoKadi movement and rallied your peers to register in record numbers, I say this: you are the conscience of this nation. Continue your advocacy.

Use every digital platform at your disposal to reach those who have not yet registered. The future you are fighting for belongs to you.

I must, however, raise a matter of constitutional concern: Access to voter registration is not a privilege. It is a right.

For nearly three months now, I have traveled by road through 36 counties along with the UGM Party’s Young Aspirants, and I have witnessed firsthand how distant the IEBC Constituency Offices are from many communities, and the particular burden this places on Persons Living With Disabilities.

I therefore urge the Commission, at the conclusion of this exercise, to maintain registration centers within all public universities for a minimum of three months, to ensure that no eligible Kenyan is left behind by geography or circumstance. It is also deeply regrettable that millions of Kenyans in the Diaspora remain excluded from this exercise.

This is untenable.

We call for the immediate resumption of voter registration for all Kenyans abroad, without further delay.

To every Kenyan who has not yet registered, eight days remain. That is enough time. Please use it.

For those in Western Kenya, the #UkatibaCaravan will be on the ground in the coming days, mobilizing youth to register across the region.

Join us. Let us reach our #Genz15MillionStrong target together, and use the ballot to hold this government to account.

The power to change this country is in your hands. Register.
